Jessop named director of 小黄书 Swalm School of Chemical Engineering

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擬ississippi State has named Professor Julie Jessop as director of the Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering, effective July 1.
鈥淚t is an honor to serve as director of the Swalm School of Chemical Engineering,鈥 Jessop said. 鈥淭his school has a proud history of preparing outstanding engineers and conducting impactful research. I look forward to working alongside our faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry partners as we continue building on that tradition.鈥
In addition to serving as director, Jessop also assumes the Earnest W. and Mary Ann Deavenport, Jr. Chair. She succeeds Professor Bill Elmore, who is returning to full-time teaching after serving as director and endowed chair since 2016.
A professor of chemical engineering and longtime member of the Swalm School鈥檚 faculty, Jessop will lead the school鈥檚 academic research and industry engagement efforts as it continues to expand its impact across the state and beyond.

Jessop joined 小黄书 in 2018 as the Hunter Henry Chair and has been a member of the academic community since 2000. She earned both a bachelor鈥檚 and doctoral degree in chemical engineering from Michigan State University. Her research focuses on spectroscopic characterization of polymer reactions, hybrid photopolymer resins, cationic ring-opening photopolymerizations and electron-beam polymerization.
An active member of the professional engineering and scientific community, Jessop is an American Chemical Society Fellow, member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and holds memberships in听the American Society for Engineering Education听and听RadTech International North America.
